Zone Read
The Zone differentiate between Right Sided Entrances placing the Character facing Left and Left Sided Entrance placing the Character facing Right. Overall adding all Layouts together we have the best % of getting through the Zone the fastest if we always go Left / West Side at the Start.
The simple read is, go left, if facing a Ledge, turn around and take the Right / East Side to get to Hailrake.
However with 2 additions to the Rule we can further improve the Layout read.
-
If you face a Long Gap Ledge, further explained in Major Zone Identifier, continue the Passage, it will be a short Ledge.
-
If you have a 2 Rocks Layout with a Passage, take the Passage if the 2nd Rock ends, also further explained in Major Zone Identifier.
Major Zone Identifier
There are 2 Major Zone Identifier the Ledge and the Rocks.
If the Width of the Ledge is equal to the Distance of the Ledge to the Wall, seen in Image 2 and 3, we know it will be a long Ledge and it is better to turn around. While if the gab between Ledge and Wall is at least double the width of the Ledge, then it will be a short Ledge. You can see an example of this in Image 4.
The 2nd major identifier is specific to the Rocks Layout, we can decide to take the Passage between the Rocks based on the orientation of the 2nd Rock. The 2nd rock either extends West or East, which will also be the direction Hailrake is at. So we want to always go the same direction. If you could go past the Rock, take the Passage, and if the rock leads on West / Left go along the Rock. Seen in Images 7 to 10.
